We are now seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our delivery team, supporting projects at Sellafield as well as additional schemes as they progress.
About the Role
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will provide commercial, contractual and financial leadership across key projects, working closely with Project Leads. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure commercial outcomes are achieved, project profitability targets are met, and cash flow is effectively managed. You will apply robust contractual and commercial practices, manage risk proactively, and drive financial performance across your portfolio.
This is a full-time position based predominantly at our Whitehaven office and on-site at Sellafield, with occasional off-site meetings as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide pre and post contract commercial advice and support to operational teams.
- Lead negotiations with clients, consultants and subcontractors.
- Identify, assess, and advise on commercial risks across projects.
- Prepare and agree interim valuations and final accounts.
- Administer subcontractor accounts and manage associated documentation.
- Identify scope changes, implement change control, and secure commercial agreement.
- Prepare monthly contract reviews and report findings to the Commercial Director.
- Contribute to monthly management accounts and related reporting.
- Manage and mentor a team, including junior Quantity Surveyors.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
- Experience working within nuclear or other highly regulated environments; P4 Pass and SC Clearance desirable but not essential.
- Ability to commute to Sellafield and our Whitehaven office.
- Strong collaborative approach, contributing positively to team and project success.
- Professional integrity and the ability to gain the confidence of clients and supply chain partners.
- Strong problem-solving skills and initiative.
- Capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
- Willingness to support wider business objectives and contribute beyond core duties.
- Degree-qualified Quantity Surveyor or proven experience as a Senior QS within similar sectors, ideally with major infrastructure project exposure.
- Experience of using CEMAR systems.
- Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts, ideally Options A, C and E.
- Full UK driving licence.
